Here’s one of the custom painted hard drives for the Visual Effects Supervisor’s Boot Camp that’s happening this coming weekend in Albuquerque. Right now, the hard drive is empty.

In less than a week, attendees will be taking a drive like this home, filled with still images, RED Camera footage, green screen footage, motion capture data, LiDAR point clouds, software and more. They will have spent nearly twenty hours learning and working hands-on with professional crews and equipment. They will have worked on dozens of shots like match moving, indoor and outdoor green screen, fight scenes, virtual prop and vehicle scenes and much more.

It’s the Green Screen we’ll be shooting on with the Red One camera system in d a little over two weeks from now at the Visual Effects Supervisor’s Boot Camp.  We’ll also be doing motion capture on the same stage.  The stage is part of the University of New Mexico Arts Lab Digital Garage. Special thanks to Eric Renz-Whitmore and everyone else the ArtsLab for helping make this great space part of the Boot Camp.

We’ll be showing you how to light and shoot for the best composites, the proper way to place markers for tracking, avoiding spill and bounce, working with actors and much more. ..plus attendees will be taking all the data home with them.
